To see when elections are occurring, go to the Elections tab.
Once you know when an election is occurring you'll want to see a sample ballot which lists of all the candidates and measures you can vote on. Sample ballots by precinct for the March 1 Democratic primary can be found here.
Once you have a list of all the candidates, you'll want to research who you want to vote for. Go to vote411.org to view candidate qualifications, education, work experience - and to see their positions on different issues. The Houston Chronicle also makes recommendations closer to the election dates that can be useful.
To see where the nearest polling places are, go to Voting Centers. Sometimes locations change between early voting and election day, so confirm before going to vote. Voting is usually heavy at the beginning of early voting and the last day of voting. When you go vote, it is preferable to vote early in case of emergencies and you because you have the oppurtunity of voting on weekends
You will need some form of identification, so take your driver's license or other photo I.D . Use the link below, scroll down to the bottom of the page, to see these other form of ID. You can also vote if you do not have an acceptable photo ID, by declaring a reasonable impediment to obtaining one. This process is also described at the link below.
Remember no cell phone/electronic devices are allowed within 100 feet of the polling site. So If you have a list of candidates you're voting for on your cell they must be transferred to hard copy paper(printed or handwritten).
